Requirements for North Carolina Workers’ Compensation

North Carolina requires any employer who regularly has three or more employees to have workers’ compensation insurance. A subcontractor is required to have workers’ comp insurance in North Carolina if he or she hires one person. Sole proprietors and business partners can opt into their workers’ compensation insurance in North Carolina.

Larger companies or businesses in North Carolina can either obtain workers’ compensation insurance in North Carolina or be self-insured and hire outside administrators to manage any North Carolina workers’ comp claims.

If a person or company does not have North Carolina workers’ compensation insurance they can be penalized each day they are not insured and/or be held responsible for any benefits owed the injured worker. The North Carolina Industrial Commission sets these penalties.

First of all.. I want to thank God and my daughter to find such an awesome lawyer Mr.Bunn.
